  • How often do you wax?

Hi guys, i am a first time poster and would like to know how often you wax you car(s). I heard that if you wax it too often it would harm your paint job... is this true?

I doubt that. Since wax only adds a protective layer however I'd believe that polishers could harm your paint finish if you use them too often (or scratchX for example) because it actually removes paint.

I wax whenever I think it needs a new wax layer but on average every 6 weeks I guess.

you can wax once a week if you wish. it does add as he mentioned a protective layer.

once a week is a bit much in terms of time especially if you do the five step process.

but sometimes if you just wax, it take at most 1 hour depending on weather conditions.

      welcome to MOL.

After I wash, I at least add a layer of spray wax if I don't have a lot of time. I probably either do a full wax or spray wax every 2-3 weeks.

I don't think you can wax too much as it just adds that much more protection to the paint.

Then again, if you used Colorx more than once a day for the life of the vechicle, the paint might wear out.

It is perfectly safe to wax a vehicle often, assuming it is well cleaned of course.

Make sure to give the car a very good washing, so you dont miss anywhere, or leave any dirt behind if you plan to wax after. You dont want to pick up and dirt on you wax pad, and go rubbing it around causing swirls.

But the wax itself will not cause any problems at all.
