  • Wax on Vinyl?

Sorry for the cross-post, this is what I've just done to my car:
    Get the RICE on!

I'm just wondering, are there any precautions I need to take when waxing around or on the vinyl? Will I be able to wax over the vinyl to help protect it, and if so (I use Cleaner Wax Paste) are there any tips for ensuring I don't get wax buildup on the edges?

I will always try to avoid getting wax on vinyl as it will cause a slight discolouration of the vinyl. However, no matter how careful I am, it is inevitable that there will be some wax getting on to the vinyl. What I usually do is to then use Trim Detailer over the entire strips of vinyl. This is applied using a terry cloth. So, in actual fact, when I wax, the vinyl on my car also gets a full makeover.

There is an alternative. I was at a professional detailing shop the other day, and what I saw was that they stuck on paper/masking tape on the vinyl prior to waxing.
