  • Detailing Titanium Exhaust

This past week I purchased a 2006 Suzuki SV650S motorcycle. I want to get a Yoshimura exhaust for it. My choices of finish are stainless, carbon fiber, and titanium. I really like both the titanium and carbon fiber. So, my question is how do you take care of these two finish's?

    Thanks for your help,

    Lindsey

i suppose you could use the meguiars metal polish. but i havent seen a Ti exhaust with a high luster finish, although i have only seen Ti exhausts on cars

as for the carbon fiber, it no doubt would have a clear coat, which will keep it from yellowing due to UV rays

I dunno about Ti, but clear-coated carbon fiber can be treated like paint.

Keep in mind however, that I dont know how hot that exhaust will get, which may burn off wax. But you could at least use cleaners to keep the swirls off.

Wouldn't a sealant be less prone to the heat compared to the wax?

A sealant would be less prone, but will still burn off at some temperature. And with a muffler, that temperature could possibly be easily reached.

I dont know how hot carbon fiber mufflers get.

How long do you expect the exhaust to last? Stainless steel is by far the most durable, but titanium should last well also.

Carbon fiber will degrade after a few years and not look good.
