  • Quick Q: Clay bar remove clear coat?

My friend has mentioned to me that he does not want to mess with clay baring because it removes the clear coat. Is this true? I find it hard to belive as it is dont so often in detailing.

Darn! My Meguiar's clay must be defective. It STILL hasn't removed my clear coat. Mike Phillips used it on my car and I tried it, too.

It just removes the embedded contaminents without hurting the paint. (Clearcoat is paint without color.)

Clay doesnt really remove 'embedded' contaminants, it removes things sitting on top of the paint, like rail dust, etc.

But it is safe, just use plenty of lubricant.

If you clay gently enough, it won't even remove an appreciable amount of your LSP.
