  • Scratch X vs #09

I was in the auto parts today and was eyeballing a can of #09 swirl remover. I noticed that it was suitable for use by hand and was wondering if this would be a preferable product for removing swirls and scratches by hand? What do you think? I would be using it on the whole car. I have used scratch x before with good results, but wanted to see is something was more effective. Thanks for the advice.

#9 can be used by hand, and probably easier to use, but ScratchX is going to be more agressive.

So depends on how severe the marks you are trying to remove are.

      Hi Billy,

Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover is very mild. For cleaning the paint it will work well. But for swirl removal, it tends to work best by machine, specifically, a rotary buffer.

For swirl removal by hand, you should use Meguiar's ScratchX. Here is a link on how to use ScratchX properly:

      Cheers!
