  • Plastic Bumper Damage

Ok, here is the reason I registered on this site. I have a NEW 2006 350z that is my dream car!

I am the kind of car fanatic that washes my car every day that I drive it (4 or 5 days a month). I cover it in the garage when not driving it and NEVER park anywhere close to others.

The other day while pulling out of my garage i hit a bucket that was left in front of my car. It scratched the plastic bumper and gouged into the plastic about 1/32 of an inch. To most people it is virtualy invisible, but to me it is a gut wrenching wound.

I have tried everything I know to do and it looks much better. I used Meguir's paint and body scrub to reduce the appearance of the scratch in the paint. Is there any kind of filler that would allow me to fill in this scratch in the plastic.

I don't have pics but can get them if it would help.

I will take it to a body shop if needed. I am just trying to figure out if that is necessary.

Thanks in advance for all of your advise!

    Well, pics are always good...

If the Body Scrub helped, get a tube of ScratchX. It is a bit stronger of a cleaner, with stronger abrasives. Go at it with that next.

Nxt and I think #21 has some fillers, but dont want to rely on that if you dont have to.

Just to add to Murr's post.. I have successfully removed scratches using this method.

Just remember Scratch X is not a wipe on wipe off product. You spread it over the area, and scrub (with passion). Remove check you work, and repeat if necessary.

I took a scratch out of a 05 Nissan Pathfinder, and it removed 98% of the scratch (After 5 well rubbed in applications). Not perfect but you would have to look with magnifying glass to find it..
