  • Taking the PC plunge

I've somehow convinced my wife that I need a PC.

Which type of pad is preferred for the following products; #9, #26 and NXT?

I've been using all of these by hand but I have some very light swirl marks that won't go away. Does the PC brand unit come with any pads?

Thanks in advance! I just updated my gallery with a few night shots of my SRT using my uber expensive $25 tripod.
2006 Honda Accord EXV6, 2003 Aprilia RSV Tuono, lots of Meg's products.

    Hello Solar!

I'd recommend the W-8006 Soft-Buff Polishing Pad for the #9 and then a W-9006 Soft Buff Finishing Pad for both the #26 and the NXT.

    Here's why:

#9 is a slightly abrasive product that is designed to remove minor swirls and some other surface imperfections. To achieve this, the #9 will work in conjunction with a slightly more abrasive pad (hence, the 8006) to remove the swirls.

#26 and NXT are both protection types of products (designed to protect your paint) and thus, you really don't need a high level of abrasive action to make these products work. In fact, you need little to no abrasive action.

I hope that clears it up! You'll love the PC once you get the hang of it and I can assure you that it'll save alot of time when it comes to applying polishes and waxes!

Good luck and let us know how you like it!

Whoops. Just remembered that I forgot to address your question about the pad that comes with the PC.

To be upfront and totally honest, I know very little about the pad that comes with the unit (yes, it comes with one). Just out of total caution, I placed that pad in a ziploc and placed it on my shelf in the garage. I don't know how abrasive it is nor do I know what I could compare it to. With that in mind, I've elected to NOT utilize it and stick with a product that I know and I understand rather than trusting a pad that I don't know on any painted surface that I own (or, for that case, a painted surface that anyone I'm detailing for owns -- it's just not worth the risk to me.)
