  • Noob questions...

I'm fed up with swirlmarks on my car and thinking about machine polishing the paint...
Before I waste money on some products i don't need, wanted to ask for recommendation on what I need to buy.
My car is 2004 VW Golf with metallic black paint. It sits outside all the time and has mild swirlmarks...
I will be ordering PC.. G100 but not sure what kind of pads and products to get for polishing...
Can someone plz help me out here?
    TIA

The cheapest and simplest (but not necessarily easiest) method is ScratchX. All you need is that, a foam applicator and a microfiber towel. All that will cost you is just over $10.

I've watch Mike Philips demonstrate how to use it, and you do indeed need to "put some passion behind the pad" as he puts in. In other words, work it in. And possibly 4-5 times if your paint is hard or the scratches are severe. It takes some time and effort, but it works.

There's a link somewhere that shows some pictures of how he does it.

If you like the results, but want to expend less energy, then start thinking of a G-100, and #83, #80, #82, #9, and the various pads, etc.

    Good luck.

First, you will want to look at autodetailingsolutions.com, as they have some good prices, and packages.

Be sure to read and understand these articles first.

Be sure to get a good handle on those first.

As basic products, you will want a bottle of #80, #83, and #21. And a bottle of #7 if you want to apply a pure polish by hand. #5 is probably a bit easier of a pure polish to apply by machine.

You will need #8006 Polishing pads to apply cleaner polishes, and #9006 pads to apply waxes and pure polishes.

You will need at least one pad per product.

How were you planning to remove products?
