  • NXT over GC

Probably not a problem but you never know so I thought I'd better ask. I have used Meguiar's cleaner wax for many years but with my new car last September I decided to switch to Gold Class. The results are amazing. The "Thunder Cloud Metallic" paint on the xb looks great. I put two coats on last September when I first got the car and another about a week ago. The advertising for NXT got my attention and I bought some today and am wondering: Is there any problem with putting NXT on over the GC? Do I need to wait until the GC "wears off" and then put the NXT on in the fall or can I go ahead and try it now?

Well, I am not sure what your exact process is, but lets work out a few details.

To get the best results with Gold CLass or NXT, the surface needs to be properly prepped with some sort of a clay as needed / cleaner / polish before waxing. Be sure to give this a read over.

    Step 1 Wash

    Step 2 Clean

    Step 3 Polish

    Step 4 Protect

    Step 5 Maintain

To answer the rest of your question, if the Gold CLass is in good shape, you could just apply Nxt over it, but doing some sort of clean/polish steps first would be best.

Quite frankly, as a short cut, you could use the Cleaner/wax first, then top it with either Gold Class or Nxt.

That would give better results than Gold CLass / Nxt alone, and would also cover the 2 coats of wax that Meguiars recomends.

    Hope that helps a little?
