Folks,
I will be working up a '04 Monte Carlo this weekend for the first time.
I don't have alot of experience in judging paint hardness at this point and figured it might be wise for me to put out a post and request any tips or paint polishing advice on product combinations that would be preferred.
This thing has no wax on it. Has been maintained "supposedly" by using the LazerWash and whatever wax they apply. It has a case of apparent Dealer Installed Swirl from the Rotary but it does not appear too bad. It also may have some very light oxidation and some water marks from being kept outside, It is an extra car, one of 3 shared by 2 people and apparently not the most driven of the 3. It was dirty whan I looked at it.
We are planning on claying it up and after that is still up in the air. I was wondering if anybody would have any product/pad/machine/speed combination tips for me to try out for the test spot? I am thinking #80 with the PC and a 8006 pad would be a safe first step considering the facts as stated above but I wanted to put out a post to get any possible insight from others possibly more experienced with the hardness/softness of the paint on these puppies.
The thing is Marroon/Red and kept outside. I don't think the owner has a preferrence for his wax so I am sure I'll have a Meg's convert when I am done. He is opened minded about purchasing a PC after we are through and says once he has it he expects to be able to wax every 2 months or so. I have a feeling I will end up putting #21 on it because I kind of doubt he will put the passion itno it needed to keep NXT looking it's best.
