  • Hey just used meguiars products q's tho

    Hey
today was my first time waxing my car and any car for that matter. I used meguiars gold car wash and nxt liquid wax.
I found the liquid wax to work well but washing was pretty hard and it was incredibally hard to dry all the water. How do you guys fully dry your car ...what kind of towels and how many do you guys usually use. Also for some reason while washing my car i got little scratches on the bottem of my doors and one near the back is there any cheap way to removing it?
Also last i bought Quck Wax. When should i apply it,,,can i apply it anytime and how.
thanx for the help i'm a total new bnever detailed in my life before

I just started using microfibre towels-I would never go back to terry, ever. I got them at Advance, in a pack of three. I use 2 towels at a time-one to get the bulk of the water off, and the second one to actually dry the car....Hope that helps!

Another thing that will help with drying is when you do your final rinse of the car take the hose nozzle off so that the water sheets off. It leaves less water to dry with towels.

The Absorber [can be purchased at Wal-Mart] works very well at drying also make sure your wash mit is clean to avoid scratches.

            Hello DoubleV! Welcome to meguiarsonline.com!!

Personally, for drying, I prefer a waffle weave microfiber drying towel. These towels will hold a TREMENDOUS amount of water!!! Once it is saturated, simply wring it out and get back to drying. It's that simple.

Bri9801 offers a GREAT suggestion to helping to control water spots and also aiding in drying the vehicle. I use this trick ALL THE TIME on my personal vehicles. Just be careful with that brass hose end around your paint!

I typically use two Meguiar's Microfiber Drying Towels to dry my entire F-150 SuperCrew and I could probably get by with just using one. These things are, simply put, amazing!!

As for the Quik Detailer versus the Quik Wax; simply put, one offers a level of protection for your paint (Quik Wax) whereas the other is for paint maintenance jobs (Quick Detailer) like removing fingerprints and light dust. Also, the QD is availabe in a 32 oz size whereas QW isn't.

I hope that clarifies it just a little. If you have additional questions, please feel free to post!

              Welcome, Victor-Victor-six-niner,

First, the probable reason you had trouble drying your car is because it was the first time you've waxed it. The water was most likely sitting in sheets on the hood, roof, and daecklid, right? The next time you wax it, all you'll have is the water droplets.

I've used the following, and all have worked well:

              The Absorber

              Waffle Weave microfiber towels

The California Water Blade, followed by The Absorber or a waffle weave microfiber

The big blue drying towel from WalMart; it's a good drying towel, IMO

The "sheet water off" method, followed by TA or WWMF

It's too hard to answer the "scratch" question without seeing the scratches. You may have picked up some dirt on your applicator during the washing process, but really there's no way to tell without seeing.

A quick detailer is something you use inbetween washes to keep your car free from dust, fingerprints, light pollen, and the like. It has no protecting properties, nor appearance properties; it only removes contaminants. You use it on a dusty or mildly dirty car. You use a quick detailer instead of WASHING your car.

A quick wax has protectant and appearance qualities, and is used in between waxings to maintain gloss and protection. It is ONLY to be used on a clean car. You use a quick wax instead of WAXING your car.

              I hope this helps,

              Tom

                  Hi V,

Did you use the 2 bucket method to wash your car?.... Also, do you have a fuzzy wash mitt?

waffle weave towles are great to dry your car. every car detailer should have atleast one of these towels. i personally dont like the califorina water blade. im scare of scratching my car.

Quik Wax is a spray, haze, and remove type of product. The time it takes is dictated by NUMEROUS factors like environmental humidity etc thus, I can't give you a good 'drying time' type of answer. I can say, however, that it shouldn't take more than a few minutes (worst-case scenario).

Quik Detailer is a spray and wipe type of product. Mist it on, wipe it off (preferrably with a high-quality microfiber towel). I love Meguiar's detailing sprays as I've found that they are far superior to the others on the market!

I'm the wrong guy to answer the question about quick waxes, 'cos I don't like 'em. I just got done using NXT spray wax on my car, and I don't think I saved more than 10 minutes over waxing the car... but, I have a really small car, with no top.

Quick detailers are "spray, wipe" type products. Fold a microfiber towel into quarters, and use one eighth of the towel for each panel, or two towels if you have a larger car or SUV. If the towel gets so damp that it's not removing all the qd, get a fresh towel. Don't use pressure, just spray and wipe. Many people use as little qd as possible, but I personally like to get that fender nice and wet; I figure the opposite of "less is more" when I'm trying to suspend dirt in a liquid. But, I'm prolly wrong. And, I have gallons of quick detailer. And, I'm just as likely to wash my car instead of qd it. Or use QEW (you'll find out about QEW someday. Meguiar's is really missing the boat by not having a competing product for QEW.)
