what is recommended for factory clearcoated polished aluminum wheels. 3/4 ton Suburban. Seem to have a lot of scratches etc from a lot of cleaning with a wheel brusk. They just don't shine like they should. Any help would be appreciated

Hi:
I have a similar problem.
I plan to use Scratch X and a lot of effort to get the scratches out.
It will take a lot of work but it is the only way that I known to attack the problem since access to all areas of the wheel is limited. I am reluctant to use any power tool since one slip could cause a lot of damage.
After you get the scratches out I would apply some #7 to help restore the luster to the paint.
Complete the job with a coat of wax; I like to use one of these- #20, #21 or NXT. These seem to hold up the best.

When I bought my car in July 05', I actually took the wheels off and washed and waxed each wheel inside and out. I could tell which ones had previously been on the front due to the brake dust accumilation on them. I used DC#1 on my painted wheels and they came out great. I know the inside the wheels really came out shining after I was done. I would give it a shot and see what it can do for you.2016 Focus ST

Like others have mentioned... treat them like you would treat your paint. Here is what I do once a year: Wheels the Extra StepLast edited by gb387; Apr 23, 2006, 06:05 PM.Brandon
