  • Bumper Woes

First of all, I want to say howdy to everyone here and thanks for all of the great information in the forum. I have learned so much. Here is the problem. My fiance's truck has not been well cared for. Its a 2002 Ford Ranger, and on the front bumper and the fender flares on the front, there are severe marks where bugs, rocks, and assorted other road grime has hit it and removed the paint it small sections (many of them). I realize that the bumper cannot be restored with out repainting, but is there anything i can do to make it look better? I have tried scratch-x, but found that this leave a white residue in the small marks and makes them look worse. All I am trying to do is make the bumper look presentable. The rest of the paint looks great, and I dont want the truck to be ruined by a dull bumper. Is there anything I can do to make it shine and spruce it up? Any advice would be apprecitated. Thanks.

    Hi Billy,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Sadly, if the paint is missing, there is not much that can be done. You could try Meg's Quik Detailer which will make the paint look glossy and not leave product residue behind in the chips. But that is about it. Sorry.

Is it the entire bumper or are they chips that you could possibly fill with touch up paint?

2hotford, that is a good idea that I will give a shot. I simply want the condition of the paint on the bumper to simulate that of the rest. Grove, theoretically, they could be filled with touch up paint, but there are so many of them that it would be an exercise in futility. I will have to save up my pennies and have it repainted after the wedding. Thanks for the advice.
