  • When to step up to #83?

First time using the PC to remove swirls.

My car is covered in this. In my test spot, it took me 3 passes of #80 to remove all the swirls. My first pass did remove most of them. I just didn't want to do 3 applications for the whole car with 2ft x 2ft sections...it'd take forever!
When I was originally writing this post, I listed my steps of what I did.
-thin bead of #80 on outer edge of pad.
-spread to area with PC off
-work horizontal, vertical, and kitty corner lines real slow
Then I realized my error! The PC was on speed 3
So to help anyone out there who can't get swirls out with one pass, make sure to check your speed
I guess #80 is awesome to work on speed 3!

PS I'm working on a 98 Sebring vert with Dark Slate color. I'll post after pics when I'm done, but it just got really cloudy.

Common mistake is to have the wrong speed setting, I've done this once or twice in a demonstration in front of about 30 people and not caught the problem till after inspecting only to find the swirls only marginally gone. Change the speed setting and re-polish the panel an Shazam! Swirls are gone!

Do a test spot with the M83 and then inspect the results, if it works faster and doesn't leave any micro-marring behind the cookie-cutter this over the entire finish and go to wax.

If it works faster and better than M80 but leaves some micro-marring, then you can opt for a two-step approach, M83 first followed by M80 second. Then go to wax.

    Hope this helps...
