  • Wax Suggestions???

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to this forum, but I do have a few questions.

Anyways, I have a 2001 Mercure Sable in a light tan / metallic gold color. It was a company car and when the lease ran up, we bought it. The car has been abused by the previous owner - deep scratches, hardly ever washed, waxed TWICE by me in the first five years of ownership. Now, I'm trying to get the paint back to shape.

The car is now in my hands and I'm trying to fix up the paint. I have used some products to get the paint back into shape - First Quik Clay, then Scratch X, then DC1 and DC2, then Mirror Glaze Show Car Glaze, and finally Gold Class Liquid Wax.

The car looks almost like new. The one problem is that I have to keep it outside. We have a 3 car garage that's filled with cars (another Sable, 04' Expedition, and my pride and joy - 73' Porsche 911).

So here's my question: I hate keeping the car outside. I constantly wash it (about once a week). I religiously wax it every 2 monthes. What wax should I use? I currently use the Gold Class, but I'm worried that it won't offer the level of protection that I need. I don't want to sacrifice shine because that's just not right. I have strongly considered using the Hi-Tech Yellow, but I just don't know. Should I stay with the Gold class or go with Hi-Tech, DC3, or Cleaner Wax?

I think the Nxt Tech wax or the #21 Synthetic Sealant will last a bit longer or you.

Nxt will probably last longer as protection, but I think #21 keeps up its looks a bit longer.

Remember, 2 thin coats is best of any wax.

Just to add, you also could skip the DC#2 if you are going to use #7 anyway.

Thanks for the quick reply and suggestion.

I use the DC2 then the #7 because I have noticed that DC2 provides a good base for some polishing. The #7 creates a super high luster. That's my opinion and experience.

I was going to say the same thing as Murr, but what ever works for you!
Never argue with an Idiot.. They'll only drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience..
