  • Odor inside car

Can I use your Odor Eliminator to rid my new car of some offensive odors? The odor is not coming from outside the car but from the inside. I can't pinpoint the origin but the car is new. Is this product safe for the headliner and for the leather seats?

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Firstly, I would not spray the headliner as it is easy to saturate and thereby possibly leaving water marks/stains behind.

You can use the Odor Eliminator on the carpet, but I would not use it on the leather.

What does the car smell like?

      Do as Tim suggested.
      Stay away from the headliner.
Hit up the carpet...and also, spray some under the seats as well.

It's not offensive but more like a cleaning solution smell with a slight fruity flavor. Not sure what it could be but does not smell like a chemical reaction or glue. It does not cause us headaches or anyother reaction. It is just not the smell of a car that is new.

Check under the seats for some sort of air freshener stuck up under there or something.

Thanks for the help, but have nothing stuck up under the seats.
Can only try the odor eliminator to see if it takes it away.

The dealer may have added a carpet scent. If that is the case, the Odor Eliminator should help a great deal!

I don't believe it to be new car smell. I have owned a number of new cars and none smell like this. I have a new Ridgeline and it doesn't smell like this. This is entirely different.

I have tried some of the Odor Eliminator on a small part of my car carpet and have noticed that this product creates an odor of its own. Will that odor disappear or will it merely replace the other odor?

Since we are on this subject--a fresh smell in a car reinforces the sense that it has been detailed inside and out. Do any of you guys use a fragrance in a vehicle after a detail.
