I have always used gold glass but i am hearing alot of rave reviews about nxt here. I have a 2006 dark red with metal flake civic si. it has 500 miles so the paint is perfect. I am planning on using #7 glaze then topping it off with 2 coats of wax.

NXT better than Gold class???

Well, it isnt so much better.. but they have different goals.
Gold Class is a carnuba blend wax, and it gives darker colors a nice rich look.
NXT is a polymer wax, looks a little glossier in my opinion, and gived good durability. It lasts a long time, but I think loses its looks a little quicker.
A good combination between the 2 is #21.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Welcome to Meguiar's Online
As Murr said, it is not which is better but rather the goals of the detail. Just for clarity, Meguiar's NXT is a man made synthetic polymer, and is Meguiar's longest protecting product. It will provide a high gloss and help to hide "slight" marring and swirls.
Gold Class is a polish/wax in that it will add a rich polish and wax to the surface. On black paint that translates to a deep, dark and wet look!
On your red metallic, I would suggest either NXT Tech Wax or Meguiar's #21 Synthetic Sealant. Both of these look stunning on red metallic. Here is a picture of a recent detail I completed on a customers red truck using #21 (which looks very similar to NXT)

If the paint is in decent condition and all you want to do is remove the current coat of wax and some minor swirls, then I would suggest Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, Step 1. You should also clay the finish prior to this.
If the finish has some scratches or the DC 1 is too mild, try Scratch X in the "preoblem spots" after the clay, then finish off the whole car with DC 1. Don't try to Scratch X the entire car...it will take you forever. I don't know how to post links to other threads, but if you do a search, Mike has a write-up on the proper techniques for removing scratches.
I know you didn't really ask about swirls, but the paint cleaner will remove some swirls, while removing any current wax, so I figured I'd mention it.
Your car wash won't remove any wax, unless you use something like Dawn dish washing liquid, which IS NOT RECOMMENDED. It will dry out your finish.
