  • #21 Advice please ..

A while back, i believe i was given some very good advice by Tim, he adviced me to use #9 #7 then two coats of #21 on my blue car.

Problem is, it appears you can only purchase #21 in a 64oz container ? (seems crazy that) which retails at around £45.00 here in the uk.

It is not so much the money that is a major issue here, my main worry would be the life of #21 ...i reckon it would take me around 5yrs to use that amount.

    My two main questions are

    1) Does anybody know the shelf life of #21 ?

    2) Can someone advice a good alternative to #21if required ?

One other question whilst i am on the subject, assuming i do use a synthetic sealant, what would one use as a booster wax ?

    Many Thanks ...

From the FAQS on the Website:
    21. What is the shelf life of Meguiar's products?

You can typically expect Meguiar's surface care formulations to retain their full effectiveness for three to five years, as long as the container has been sealed tightly, and has not been frozen.

Always shake Meguiar's liquid products well before using, especially if they have been sitting for an extended period of time.

Along with the comments from the Faqs, just to add my own. I pull all my products out once a month and ive them a good shaking. I have the 64 oz. bottles of #21 and #20 and have no fears of shelf life issues.

    2) Can someone advice a good alternative to #21 if required ?
IMHO, The best Alternative to #21 is NXT. The look is very similar. IMHO NXT looks a little better but will loss it's intial pop a little quicker. It takes a little upkeep to keep NXT looking it's absolute best. #21 looks almost as good and will tend to keep the look a little longer.

One other question whilst i am on the subject, assuming i do use a synthetic sealant, what would one use as a booster wax ?
If you go NXT the Booster would be:
    NXT Generation Spray Wax
    NXT Generation Spray Wax

I have never used #21 as my final LSP so I can't help there. I would "think" NXT Spray Wax would do fine for the Booster but you should get first hand comments from someone else who has tried it first.

If you keep the product at room temperature and just give it a good shake every so often it will certainly last you 5 years.

Well that could very well be me...I didn't like it at all. NXT Spray Wax seemed to drastically shorten the longevity of the M21. I'll never use it on top again!

On a good surface, M21 needs nothing above or below it...
