NXT Wax

Guys, please help me out here, I recently detailed my van, using the following

Clay
2 passes with the #80

the my problem NTX wax!!!, I applied it by hand using an applicator, I then let it dry of for about 15 mins, perform the swipe test, I then bluff of by hand using the Plush Terry Towel, it looked great IN THE SHADE , however out in the sun, it look as if the was residue of the wax left over in patches as such, almost like I wasn't wiping it out well, but after a few wipes, (applying more pressure) I was able to remove it, now my question, can this be caused by applying to much wax?

Could be that you applied it too thickly. Be sure to shake the product vigorously and apply to a cool finish in the shade. I really like using microfibers to remove the product and this may also help in the removal.

I tried using NXT for the first time last week and it came out perfect, i'm hooked!

I used a PC to apply and remove and that made it easy, but if I were to offer you any suggestions, they would be:

1) Apply the product thinly but evenly
2) Let it dry for longer than 15mins, try an hour
3) Use a microfibre towel to remove instead of the plush terry cloth. I find that I always leave streaks with a terry cloth, but the MF removes them cleanly, and with much less effort.

Why and hour?

time to leave wax depends on alot of things...

as MOL would say, perform the swipe test to know when your wax is ready to be buffed off...

The fact that there were streaks left behind could mean that the wax hadn't dried properly

The instructions on the bottle of NXT Tech Wax suggest that you apply wax to the whole car first before you start removing it. In my case, that takes about an hour, hence my suggestion.

When I first got started it took me about on hour as well with the PC. Now it's under an hour and that's about 15 minutes of application. 15 minute break with coffee and a ciger, then 15 minutes removal and the last 15 for a final wipe if need be.

I get a kick out of it when I tell my buddies this. Usually takes them 2-3 hours just to apply the wax.

I don't believe NXT would be any more difficult to remove after sitting for an hour, or even longer, assuming it was applied nice and thin. In fact, I think it would be much easier to remove after an hour or more than it would be if you tried to remove it too soon.

Heck, after applying #16 to my car a couple of weeks ago I noticed the next morning that I'd missed removing a spot on the rear quarter panel and even that came off with no problems. It had to have sat there for something like 15 hours!

That is correct. The Swipe Test is a great gauge for discovering if a product is ready to be removed or not:

Please follow Meguiar's recommendation for the appropriate set-up/removal time. In this case, ~15 minutes. Further, sometimes leaving a product on much too long can cause streaking etc.

There are many variables such as humidity, temperature etc that may affect that 15 minute set-up time, but it should not vary by a significant amount. Hence, in the end, I have found that the Swipe Test takes the guess work out of it!!

It sounds like you may have applied the product to thick. Apply a nice thin even coat, perform the Swipe Test and remove with a quality MF towel.
