"Make sure to go to the Amazon or Lowe's detailing forum also, they provide invaluable information for using the tools they sell to insure you get great results. "

That took a minute while I started to search "Lowes detail forum", but I got it.

"I also wear vibration resistant half finger gloves so my hands and arms do not get nerve damage. These are the tingle’s you feel after using a PC most of the day – not good for your body. "

I am hearing impaired, so I wonder if anybody wears ear protection?

I do. I've got some minor hearing loss and while the machine's not very loud, it just feels better to me to have the protection on. I'm a woodworker as well, so hearing protection and eye protection(!) are almost second nature while I'm in the garage/workshop.

Of course, with hearing loss, it won't seem as loud to us anyway, but the hearing loss is what makes it all the more important to protect what we have. Hearing loss, particularly severe (like, need a hearing aid type loss) is one of those things that people dont get the significance of until it happens to them. I wnet from normal hearing to profoundly deaf in my sleep from a Friday night to Saturday morning. (Come came back with treatment, so now it is just deemed "severely" deaf. This overnight effect would never be caused by operating equipment, but it sure brought home of the point of appreciating your hearing--so I guess maybe I am preaching.

One of my mottos - SAFETY always!
Detalnewb I just crack up also every time I see the expression on the helmeted cat & I would keep it forever if I were you. I don’t know the process for putting an avatar online but I have a copy of what I want to insert where I currently have the Enjoy Life! saying then I could use this enjoy life for my signature.
On protection you hit the nail on the head as I totally overlooked a couple of safety items which I use all the time that I take for granted. Yes you need eye protection and ear protection plus no loose clothing that could be GRABBED by the PC because that sucker is quick. Had it grab my work apron tie strap in the shop one day while the apron was still attached to ME. Whew, it was real scary for an instant. Never again will that happen to me.
I get my safety equipment from Lab Safety Supply in Janesville WI. I don’t believe I can give the phone number here but check out Google. In another career I purchased safety equipment for a major oil company and believe me I am now very respectful of my immediate surroundings for anything that could potentially hurt me or you.
I use yellow colored EAR earplugs classic soft w/o cord – 2 per package, great for anything that makes noise and you can carry in your pocket.
I have Bilsom Thunder T3 earmuffs also that are velcroed to my air compressor.
