A polish will add some gloss and give it an overall wet look. I am talking about a Pure Polish here like #7 or Deep Crystal 2.

As far as which is easier to apply. I assume you are talking about working by hand. Both of these are great for hand application. IMHO the DC #3 is a little easier to work with and yeilds great results. But I do use #7 but it took me a couple of times before I became familiar with the removal of it. It can be tricky but some time spent revcewing threads in here about it will get you over the hurdle pretty quickly. Also consider #81, I have not tried this yet but some feel is is much like #7 but easier to work with.

Thanks, come to think of it, what is the "quickest" way to give my black car that extra shine after wash/wax? is there some sort of spray or something? this would be just for the day sort of thing...thanks

Buddy, to be honest the absolute best thing, in my humble opinion is to walk away. If you have just waxed the best thing to do is leave it alone. Give it a day to set up. I find doing anything to a fresh coat of wax is a great way to put minor scratches into the wax. Thus dulling it's appearance.

Now if you wait a day, Then one of the Spray Quick Detailers is a good bet, As long as you are only dealing with light dust on the finish.

Now having said that. You can put #7 over a wax but I have never applied it over a fresh wax. nor will I ever try. Like I said I don't mess with fresh wax. Wait a day then use a quick Detailer or even #7 if you wish.

Try the NXT Spray Wax.....you can apply it to the car after just washing it. Either while it's wet or after drying. The trick is to spray it on an applicator, not spraying it directly onto the finish. I've found applying it to a dry car give you more even coverage. Water doesn't get into the applicator and tend to dilute the spray wax. It only takes about 10-15 to do the entire car and gives an incredible "just waxed" look.

In most cases, after you've applied and removed your wax, at least a wax like NXT, Gold Class, M26, etc. the best thing to do like Jeff said and walk away.

If you done your prep work right, then one or two coats of a quality wax will take your results to a higher level that will be hard to improve upon with a polish.

It used to be in the old days that you would top your car with a polish like #7 Show Car Glaze and for some single stage paints this may still work very well. But since those days wax technology has come very far, (At least Meguiar's wax technology), and on clear coat finishes, it's pretty hard to beat the results of one of our waxes when applied to the appropriate finish.

Fact is, two thin coats of wax on a clear coat finish will usually look better than one thin coat of wax, or one thin coat of wax followed with a coat of polish.

Everyone's eyes are different and everyone's values are different also, so the above is not something that is set in concrete for all people. That's why to find out what products work best for you and make your paint look its best in your eyes, you pretty much have to try and test different products on your paint and then make up your own mind.

This is also why there will always be wax wars, it's because everyone is different, and the topic of which wax is best can tend to become an emotional subject for some people.

Thanks thats exactly what I was wondering. I am after quick shine, less time. I have done the wash and nxt wax and the wax does make it very shiny. But was wondering if a polish is worth the extra time, but if your saying a good wax isnt a HUGE difference to polish AND wax. Then I might just stick to wash and wax, trying the 2 layers.

Justa quick one on these quick detailers, like the NXT one, so this is like a light wax? I guess same effect, quicker to apply but doesnt last as long? If so this might be what I am after...

What is this #34 final inspection like?

hello fellow mol'rs -- i am reading this thread and i am wondering have i been doing this incorrectly -- nxt wash-#12 cleaner wax-#7 show car glaze-nxt tech wax-#21 synthetic sealant -- it looks good to me -- should i stop with the nxt tech wax or is finishing with #21 okay? --

If you are going to go with a polish then stick to using it before your first coat of wax. The wax will seal in the oils and give you a wet look for a longer period of time. It is what I do an appears to be the norm. I have tried applying #7 over my LSPs and to be honest I can see the difference but I am probably the only person who would notice it because it is very slight, keeping in mind I already had the #7 under my LSP.

I have a Bottle of #81 I am picking up tommorrow from a PBE Store I finally found who says they can have any Meg's Product I want in hand by 7 AM the following morning. My understanding is that #81 is geared a little more to the BC/CC paints most of us are likely working with so I am looking froward to playing with it.

No not at all. If you need a Spray Wax from the NXT line go with:
NXT Generation Spray Wax
NXT Generation Spray Wax

Do not look at the Spray Deatilers as a wax. Totally different animal.

What is this #34 final inspection like?

I have only been using this for a few days now as I clayed the other day and have been putting myself through some Rotary Training for the last few days. Tim (2hotford) ,whom I have great respect for, has given me plenty of feedback on his opinions of the various Qd prducts and his feel is that Last Touch is a great way to go. I am doing my own experimentation and thus far agree. But I have not been using the FI long enough to give an honest opinion.

Ok thanks, I think I will give the 2 layer wax method a go since wax seems to really work quite well already. Has anyone got any side by side photos of the difference between just waxing and then polish/wax etc?

Well, for me, that would be an unusual approach. You are not hurting anything but I suspect you are not getting the results you could be.

Thats quite a combination there and it's a little difficult for me to envision what you are going after. Before I offere any comments, how about providing a little more details first.

I suspect we can eliminate one of the products above in your process and likely change the order a bit and get you some better results with less work.

Do you Clay, Use paint Cleaners. or Paint Polishes at all? Try giving us a little more detail about what you do so we can get a better understanding of you usual methods and an idea of what condition the finish is in.

I think I might experiment abit and maybe do a wash/wax/wax-wax/polish-wax/QD photo on the roof of my car and see if I can tell any diff...
