  • Best Maguiars product to remove Canola Oil

Canola Oil removal - Not too sure if this is the best place for this, but...
I have used Maguiars products for ages and hopefully there is a product which can help me.
I just purchased a new black Subaru Liberty B-Spec sedan and in the first week drove from Melbourne to Canberra. A mate told me to spray Canola Oil on the front of the car to stops bugs sticking to the paintwork. It worked like a dream, but now I can't get the Canola marks off the paintwork, even though I have washed it with boiling hot water and detergent. I have been advised to use WD40 but would prefer to use a Maguiars product that works. Any advice as to which product to use?

        Hey Roberto,

        Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

I would suggest that you give Meguiar's Gold Class Bug & Tar Remover a try.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

What are canola marks? I don't really see how canola oil could leave marks...or do you actually have bug splatters?

            DC#1 would be:

            Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner

            and clay would be:

            Quik Clay System

A paint cleaner like Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner or ScratchX applied with a foam applicator and removed with a soft microfiber polishing cloth should/will remove the canola oil off the finish. After this you will have to apply some wax because either of the paint cleaners will also remove any wax on the finish also.

If you haven't read through the below thread, please take a moment to read through it and it will help you to have a good understanding of what paint cleaners, polishes, detailing clay, and waxes are and how they all work together as a system for maintaining your car.
