  • Finish Kare products

I was recommended certain Finish Kare products but haven't tried any nor heard of them at the time so I just stuck with what I knew works well (Meguiar's). But I went to their site and saw some very interesting things. Anyone ever used their products? How did you like them. They say that they're highly recommended and used by automotive manufacturers like Ford, Audi, Infiniti, etc. If you know what I'm talking about and are familiar with their products what's your opinion?

addon: Superior Shine I saw your post that you used to be a rep for them, what where your likes and dislikes about their products and recommendations?

I was never a rep for finish kare.

I was asked to come aboard and I went on a "ride along" one day with one of their reps.

I even got to meet Floyd Meguiar, the owner of finish kare.

I was told he is related to the Meguiar family and went on his own to start finish kare.

My impression of that day was the place was a dis organized and a mad house. Now I was at the wharehouse for maybe an hour or so but that was my first impression. It may not be like that always but I wanted no part of it.

As far as their products go, they seemed to be OK and some worked well but I use a proven system that gives me consistant high quality results. Why would I want to chance.

Contrary to what people think, FK puts out some good products. Their 425 is probably better than any QD Meguiars has out.

I thought about buying that poly wipe spray and I probably will. Although I love the Last Touch. My real question about Finish Kare products is that they say bonded contaminants etch into the finish, correct, but claying and buffing won't remove all contaminants? But by using their decontaminating system it will make your finish 100 percent contaminant free and smooth as glass and it's the only system capable of safely removing paint contamination and is manufacturer approved. This brand seems trustworthy and I'm probably going to give some of their products a shot, except stick to meg's polishs, and waxes. As superior shine said, "If it ain't broke don't fix it". And I don't see finish kare backing up their products with a guarantee you'll love this which makes it seem like you got nothing to lose when using a genuine meguiar's product but I'm always up for comparisons.

I for one was not very happy with that decon system. The first step is full of kerosene (or similar); expect your mitts/buckets to reek for at least a week (I had to leave my rinsed out bucket in the garage for a week or two until the smell went away enough for me to bring it back into the basement). After I was done, I still needed to clay because it didn't remove everything.

There is also another brand of decon, I'm not sure if that's any better, although I hear the first step is a bit more pleasant. Suffice it to say that I am not convinced of the efficacy of the process.

Accumulator (sorry to drag you into this :p ) may chime in with some more feedback, he has used these kind of things a lot.

Considering how much I rave about decontamination systems I can't complain about getting dragged into threads like this

Take FK's "only decon system..." spiel with a grain of salt Theirs is *not* the one currently endorsed by the major auto manufacturers (gotta check the TSB dates, which some people assume folks won't bother doing).

Never tried the FK one, just the "other" brand. Note that I'm going out of my way to *not* promote another company's stuff here.

The decontamination system has solved my problems with recurring rust-blooms on light colored vehicles. Nothing else ever offered a *permanent* solution. Worked great for me with no negatives.

FK *does* seem a bit disorganized. But I too like their 425. Just don't mention their competition to them as I hear they can be a bit, uhm, strongly opinionated (as are some of their supporters).

Contrary to what you just said, I prefer Last Touch over 425 so far, I've only used 425 once though and wasn't amazed but I was with the first use of Last Touch. I had to change the the bottle and sprayer of the 425 because the sprayer is so horrible, it leaks, mist isn't very adjustable either. But the results of the Last Touch I prefer over any detailer product out. I'd say 425 is even with #34, but the anti static trait is a + (although I have yet to see if it will make a noticable difference). I'm going to continue to use 425 for the rest of the week to see if I can notice any more +'s about the product, but for now, it's not bad at all. btw you should try last touch if you haven't already.
