  • Use MF towel to wipe off dust after waxing?

After waxing my car, dust is attracted to the wax, so should i use the microfiber towel to wipe the dust off? If not, what should i be using to wipe off the dust attracted to my car?

    THANKS

Re: Use MF towel to wipe off dust after waxing?

      I use this:

Meguiar’s Versa-Angle Body Duster safely and efficiently removes light surface dust from even the most delicate finishes without scratching. The paraffin-treated dust head traps dust and safely lifts it away. Our exclusive ergonomic Versa-Angle handle makes the Body Duster easy to use even on the lower portions of your vehicle.

Yeah, dont use just a MF towel, it would risk fine scratches.

while we are on this topic...

which towel can be used to wipe of after claying?

          after using #83?

amd most importantly, whats drying products can be used to dry of the car once it has been washed?

sorry for the rather silly questions

You can use Meguiars Supreme Shine Micro-Fiber towels for both claying, and #83.

As for drying, I use the Meg's Water Magnet. It's a Waffle Weave towel, and it works great. I actually use 2, one to knock the bulk water off, and the second to dry. Kinda of like "Wax on Wax off method". I found that using just 1 Water Magnet causes streaks, since it get's soaked. You can wring it out, but I found myself needing to use Quick Detail with 1 WM. Ever since I switched to the 2 Water Magnet drying method, I no longer need Quik Detail to remove streaks since I can dry it streak free!

For me, after waxing I immediately go to a Supreme Shine MF for give it a final buff. Nothing major, just a light wipe to make sure I did not miss any wax with the PC. I have white paint so it is very easy for me to mess around and miss spots when removing the wax. Sometimes I almost wish there was some sort of color additive we could add to wax to make it easier to see it on certain colors when applying and removing. The SSMF gives me a good way to get it. But make sure to do it very lightly. I do use it dry as I don't like moistening the wax for a while. I tune to a new side of the SSMF for each new panel to avoid carrying anything from one panel to the next.

If it has sat for a while then I would use the duster and then Some QD with a SSMF.

Fresh wax is highly susceptable to scratches. I put a coat of #26 on mine about 12 hours ago with the PC. This time I did skip the final buff with the SSMF and am getting ready to do that tonight. But I am going to use the Duster first and use Last Touch on the SSMF. I'll likely wait until tomorrow to worry about going after any wax in the cracks and crevices as it is my experience that it scratches very easily if you go after that too fast after waxing. Especially if you use a brush. I try to avoid the brush if at all possible, But still use it on an as needed basis.

ok well i ended up using the mf towel, so now i probably have some fine scratches. Do i just use the scratchx to get them out? What is my next move?

                THANKS

when i apply carnuaba wax, i notice it attracts dust..
so i went and bought meguiars dust magnet glove.

ive switched to NXT so less dust attracts.

Oh Gosh, a new paint job is needed now!!! Hehe.

Seriously though. You comment is that you "probably have some fine scratches". First thing would be to determine whether or not you do or not. Once that is done the decesion on whether or not they are worth going after at this time needs to be made.

For me, I get the sporadic scratch every now and again. I expect it as I have to detail outdoors and I love keeping it meticulously clean. So I am likely to put a scratch in it from time to time. Where I am lucky at is that I have white. White "can" be pretty helpful is hiding these little micro scratches. Darker color may not be as forgiving. For the few scratches I do have, you would have to look pretty hard to find them unless the light hits them just right.

As for going after the scratches, If you are going to do a claying soon, it may not be worth getting carried away with the scratches at this time. Do the Clay'clean polish thing and sweat the scratches at that time.

If you car is a daily driven ungaraged vehicle. If you are going to keep in meticulously clean, you are going to drive yourself crazy going after every hairline scratch that most of the polishes will end up pulling out anyway.

Having said all that mess. If you do have these scratches and do decide to go after them, Scratch-X is fine way to go after spot treating scratches. You will need to re-wax the area after completion of the Scratch-X though.
