  • Being that nxt is a cleaner....

OK ive heard that nxt wax is a cleaner wax.

Is this true? Does it mean that when I try to do a 2nd layer of it, it is actually removing the 1st layer?

    Technicaly yes.

Nxt wax definately is one where you apply 2 coats for even coverage, not for '2 layers thick'. Though you never really get 2 layers thick anyway with any wax I dont think.

      Hello

If you have heard that "NXT is a cleaner wax" then you have probably heard some mis-informed infomation.

Both NXT and Gold Class are meant for cars with clean, good condition paintwork. NXT includes a tiny amount of cleaner action that is so small you can easily get away with putting one layer on top of another with our removing the first layer.

It is by no means a cleaner wax and if you think your surface needs a cleaner wax then you need to do some prep before applying either NXT or Gold Class.

Enjoy the NXT....12 hrs between NXT coats is a good measure to allow the NXT to cure and become more durable. Thats preference of course!!

        i would like osme info

i have jsut applied NXT to my car about 4 hours ago, and am waiting till tomorrow to apply NXT again...

instead of using NXTa gain, could i apply carnuaba wax as a topper?

i was thinking becasue my car is white, i doubt i would see a difference once using carnauaba over the NXT...

so should i apply NXT again?

          Hi!!

In general its difficult to add more gloss and depth to white paint using NXT after you have made one good NXT application.

A second coat would add more durabilty though.

I think the key to a good white car is it being clean, REALLY CLEAN!!

Have you clayed and used a paint cleaner (the deep crystal one is pretty good)?? People are always a bit and miss on whether polishing really helps on a white.

I hope this help a bit!!

the paint is smooth as glass..

            clayed and #9 the paint...
i need #80 though, as there are still some light cobwebbing...
the car has been resprayed about a year ago... might be a hard paint

i was always under the impression to not bother with polishing light colours such as white...

With a white car, you might not be able to see the difference as much, but polishing is still good for the paint, even if you do it a little less often. It is still good to get some polishing oils into the paint, and it can help your gloss if nothing else.

Here is a couple things that might offer some more insight..

the reason i havnt used a pure polish such as deep crystal, is becasue i thought #9 was a mild polish aswell?

Yes, #9, #80, #83 are all cleaner/polishes, so you are going to get the polishing oils onto the paint, which is a good thing. It will certainly keep the paint healthy and lasting longer.

A pure polish might give a little better of a look in the end, esp on dark colors, but on white, I think a mild cleaner polish will give you the same look.

I kind of thought your previous question was asking if you "needed to polish at all?", which you should, no matter the color. But choosing a cleaner/polish covers that just fine.

but you have cleared things up...
but white is just soo boring to work with

but i havent used a pure polish in a while since i started using #9

You also need to remember that polishing helps to make the surface smooth and gloss comes from smoothness. The smoother the surface the higher the gloss. Everyone loves the way a glossy finish looks and you can create gloss on any type of paint, clear coat or single stage.

And as pointed out, NXT Tech Wax is not a cleaner/wax in the sense of the term, cleaner/wax, it's not formulated to be used on a neglected finish and if a paint finish has been neglected and needs defects like swirls, scratches and oxidation removed, then these defects should be removed using either a paint cleaner like ScratchX, a cleaner/polish like M83 or M80, or a real cleaner/wax like ColorX.
