  • Will Claying help???

Well, I took my truck into the Rhino-Line shop to have the lower panels, fender flares, wheel wells, and bed along with over the rails rhino-lined and they had my truck for 2 days to complete this and overspray is horrible! Its everywhere! Im left to correct this. Get it in the sun lite and it looks horrible! Will clay remove it or am I going to have to use something else like body solvent to remove it, then start a full detail on it???

I talked to the guys at RhinoLine and they said it is normal for overspray and thats when the throubles began! I lost it with them and we had some words until the police showed up and told me to leave or go to jail. They are not willing to correct there mistake or offer me a discounted price. Bad enough it was $1100.00 to have it done. I did place a stop on the check. I called the company Rhino-Line and they said they can not help me since there people are independant contractors.

    Hi Paramedic,

Sorry to hear of your misfortune, although sharing it here will serve to warn others to avoid this company like the plague if this is their attitude and an example of their lack of professionalism.

I think you should try claying first, work a small area at a time and use lots of lube. If you can fix one small area, you should be able to fix the entire truck.

If this doesn't work then you'll need to find a chemical that will soften, dissolve/loosen the bed liner material without harming the paint, it could be a simple product like Goo Gone will work.

You might want to document everything you can with pictures, write down the names of the people you dealt with and any "Quote" they said to you and then take them to Small Claims Court. It's going to take you a lot of time to undo the damage they did and even having a little bit of proof will help you if all they have is their story that this is how they do their business.

Maybe after losing a few pubic court cases they'll change their business practices. Good luck and keep us updated.

      Hi:

Sorry to hear about your problem.

      Dupli-Color makes a do-it-yourself product.

They say: "Use rag moistened with Dupli-Color Lacquer Thinner to remove any overspray."

I have no experience with this type of product so the above is for information only. If all else fails this may be your only option.

I would follow Mike's suggestions first and try a good quality lacquer thinner from a PBE last.

Certainly do something while it is fresh. With any luck you had just waxed, so maybe it wont stick as badly right away.

That is such a cop out on Rhino Line's part...as a company being represented by an independent contractor, I would think they would have a serious issue with that...don't understand it...

I can personally recommend Goo Gone if the material is anything like this glue/adhesive that I removed from a 1994 vehichle where the lettering was....it took a while but the end result was you could not tell where the letters were once I removed the adhesive and then hit it with clay, #80 and then NXT:

            I understand it.

It is done so that the customer can not sue them are take any legal action against the "corporate office". It's by design.

Well, I been out in the hangar most of the day working on the truck. I was able to get it all off with clay. You could see some stains from the polyurethane. Speed Glaze removed the stains and toped with #21 and its all back to normal again.

I just did not agree with them or there company on a few things. I was not happy that I had to clean up there mess, but then again it was fun to detail it again. I did take pictures before and after so when I re-send them a check and subtract $300 for my time & labor if they want to fight in court, I have proof.
