I have a 91 charcol gray maxima, and the paint is in good condition. Don't know if the paint is soft, medium or hard...what ever that means. Had the car for 10+ years now and about every week i wash it with meguiars gold car wash, then dry and apply zymol wax. There are some defects in the paint, on the hood, there are tons of etched water marks and a couple of big bird droppings thats been there for a couple of years. I've bought meguiars color x, and mothers sealer and glaze phase 2. I already have the zymol wax so i didnt want to buy phase 3. my question is, when i apply the color x, how long should it sit before i wipe it off? and how many coats of it should i use? what about the sealer and glaze by mothers? how long should i let it sit before wiping it and how many coats of that should be applied? also the color x and glaze and sealer by mothers, should they be applied after a weekly wash, monthly, yearly? will these products harm or damage my paint in any way? sorry for all the newbie questions but im really new to a full detail and the use of these products, so be easy on me...thank you

1. ColorX is a cleaner/wax, so you can let it sit until it dries to remove it. However, if you only want it for cleaning ability, you can remove it right away.
Here is a link with ColorX in use.

2. ColorX isnt the strongest cleaner by hand, so you could certainly apply a couple well worked in applications, and wipe off before drying. Then, if you want, you can let your last coat haze, to take advantage of the wax.
3. Well, the wax in ColorX will last at least a month before needing re-applied. I cant speak for Mothers, but I think they can last that long. After weekly washings, you may want to use something like a Spray Wax or Quick Detailer to restore some of the gloss, etc that you may lose.
4. All of these companies have been in business for years.. even though I use only Meguiars, I think you can be very safe with Mothers and Zymol as well..
You will want to use 2 coats of wax, so if you like to wax often, you could try applying ColorX topped with Zymol and see how it turns out. Just a little shortcut to try.
Dont forget to clay your car as well....
