Care of clear coat wheels

I just pruchased a 92 Vette. The wheels appear to be clear coated. What wheel cleaner should i use ? Also can the be polished? With what product ?

Should do the trick..

you could polish out the rims using an applicator pad and some scratch x, as you would a clear coated paint finish.

however i would use extreme care or try to avoid it if all possible.

a little M21 sealant would help make them shine and give them some protection making it easier to wash the road grime off

First thing first. On a cool rim use soap and water

I have found that allot of people are too quick to grab a rims cleaner when using soapy water and a wash mitt will do.

Go for the rim cleaner only if the soap and water don't work.

If they are clear coated then you will want to use something that is more for paint than for metal.

One of Meguiars cleaner waxes would do or try speed glaze followed by NXT TECH WAX.

I too prefer a quality car wash soap and water for my clear coated wheels. I treat them just like the paint on my truck.

This is the process I use once a year: Wheels ~ the extra step...., then I maintain the look with soap and water then a shot of a Quick Detailer.
