  • Need Advice

New at this detail game so I need some advice. Have new black vette, and on the hood it looks like a bird may have left his mark and someone (dealer/transport co.) may have taken a damp towel and simply attempted to wipe it off. Now there is what appers to be a "scuff mark' (kind of as if someone took an old towel pressed it against the paint twisted it) about the size of my hand in the paint.

What product(s) and application process can I use to safely attempt to cure the problem as opposed to hiding it ? I do not own a PC so I prefer to do by hand, unless someone thinks the job could be done with better results using a PC.

I plan on ultimately applying NXT. Thanks.

    Product to use

    Hi:

You probably will get different answers but here is what I would try, by hand.

Since you are going to use NXT, I would give it a try first.

NXT has some mild cleaners and the ability to remove small marks. Wash the area and apply the NXT, see if it helped. It will look a little better after 24 hours. If it looks pretty close to removing the mark after applying the NXT then I would wait the 24 hours before doing anything else.

If the NXT does not remove the mark then I would probably try Scratch X. You can use this product by hand. I have had real good luck with it removing light scuffmarks.

If the mark is still there you will probably have to use a PC and some thing like 82 or 83.

Start with the mildest abrasive and work up until the mark is gone.

    Good luck.
