  • ColorX & A12 wax

By reading product descriptions and a few posts in this forum, I learned that ColorX has stronger cleaners than the A12 Cleaner wax, but what about the wax left behind ?

Suppose there will be no topper, which gives the best protection ? Which last longer under same conditions ?

To my knowledge, A12 is a carnuba blend, and ColorX is polymer. ColorX lasts a good length of time for me, and I'd say it will last at least a bit longer.

Both products use a blend of natural ingredients and man-made ingredients. If you do a good job of applying any of our cleaner/waxes, allow it to dry and then remove it, you will leave behind enough protection to get your through to the next time you wax you car as long as you're waxing your car often enough for the environmental conditions in which you expose your rig to.

Most people change their oil every 3000 miles for preventative maintenance for the internal components of the engine to insure the engine lasts a long time.

Most people understand that if they don't get to the oil change till 3300 miles or even 4000 miles the engine isn't going to fall apart or seize-up; the 3000 mile mark is just a measure or mark as an insurance policy, thus the term preventative maintenance.

Maintaining your car's finish, if it's a daily driver is kind of the same thing, you don't want to wait till the clear coat is flaking off to clean, polish and wax. A better idea is to wash and wax periodically, with claying, cleaning and polishing as needed or wanted.

If you want to, after applying and removing your choice of cleaner wax, you can top this with one of our pure waxes or a synthetic paint protectant like NXT.

Will I need to let the cleaner wax/ ColorX cure for around 30mins - 1hr before I top it up? Or can I top up almost immediately?

What I normally do is top it up after about 30mins or 2 cans of beer.

In a perfect world, you want some time to go by before applying a second coat of wax, but in the real world I would venture to guess most people will not be able to see a difference in performance if you apply the second coat of wax as you have outlined.

In my own practice, I usually wait about 30 minutes to an hour and then apply my second coat as I usually do not have the luxury of waiting any longer.

Here's something to read on the topic...

              Thanks for your replies.

The reason behind this question is that some people at work notice my car and when they finally discover who it belongs to ask questions about which wax to use.

These people have no real interest in doing a full detail nor have me do it, but they'd like to put something on the paint.

I usually direct these people to cleaner waxes and I want to know which of these two is preferable. I'm quite sure these people aren't regular waxers, so longevity has to play a role.

If the paint is a little oxidized etc, I would suggest the ColorX as its cleaners work very well to remove light oxidation etc. Plus ColorX contains a polish and a polymer for protection and longevity.
