Removing wax buildup

Ive been using Meguiars products for years. I was recently told that after a while its good to make sure you strip all the wax and polish that builds up over the years. Is this true and how do I do this to my car so I can start out with a clean slate.

all you have to do to clean off most or all of the wax is use the Quik Clay System or use a paint cleaner like Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
