  • thin scratch in bumper

My girlfriend was going to surprise me and wash my car (a generally nice idea) but she managed to use the wrong cloth and it had some tiny sand and apparently one "big sand" in it. It made some tiny marks and one thin scratch which i suppose not many other than me can see (you can feel it though) but it annoys me as hell and i cant relax before its gone. So the thing is, is the bumper painted in the same way as the rest of the car even though its plastic? (its a civic 03 hatchback, black)

Are there any tips on how to fix this, even out the scratch and get rid of the tiny scratches/swirls?

If the bumper is painted i should be able to use meguiars scratchX, some #82 and so on using a machine?

I truly hope i can fix this, both for my own sake but also for my poor girlfriend which looked scared to death when she realised what she had done.

Regardless of what's under the paint, (Steel or plastic bumper), if you're working on paint you're working on paint.

As for removing the scratches, are you working by hand or machine and what do you already own?

Also, I'm moving this out of the FAQ section as it's actually not part of the "Meguiar's FAQ" and I'm putting it into the Detailing 101 forum where most questions like this should be posted.

      Thanks!

Sorry my bad i guess. Anyway, i have ordered the G100A with the NXT pack and also #80, #7, clay bar and scratchX.

Not sure how deep the scratch is but as i mentioned, i can feel it with my finger.

Im also open for suggestions on other products to buy if necessary.

if you can feel it with your finger i doubt you can fix it with a G100

#83 is the most aggresive product you can use by DA but I don't think it will be enough, but if you choose to try #83 you must follow it up with #80 or #82

but here's some good stuff you can get with you G100

I think ill have to correct myself. I cant feel it with my finger, only my nail, and just almost. Not a chance in hell that i can paint that sucker since its so thin.
