I've read on a few other websites that it is not good to dry your car with a chamois leather, apparently the friction can remove wax and cause scratches - is this true? Is there another way I can dry my car without using a chamois leather?

I got a brand new car in October 2005. Next week I'm going to use the Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner (to remove swirls), clay it and then a coat of NXT liquid wax. I'll try and post some pictures afterwards.

No matter how careful I am washing, I can't stop getting paint swirls. I even use the two bucket wash method and give the car a good rinse before washing. Sometimes it looks awful in direct sunlight

    Damien.

I picked this up at Big Lots. It's for car drying.

Well, there could be many possibilities... be sure your sponges/mits are high quality of course, and try to get a Grit Guard for your buckets as well.

I like to use the Water Magnet Drying Towel.

Your car may have come from the dealer with swirls, as well as any you may have added accidently.

However, the Deep Crystal Paint cleaner is not strong enough to remove swirls. To remove swirls by hand, you will need either ColorX or ScratchX.

I don't think I can buy a grit guard here in the UK, I've searched on Google and it seems it's only for sale in the USA. Meguiar's have a UK online store but it dosen't stock all of the products that the US one does.

That *****.. its a handy device. Did you find the Grit Guard Homepage... they may not ship internationaly. AutoDetailingSolutions will ship internationaly, but might be pricey for just 2 items.

Perhaps some of the many UK folk can mention if they have Grit Guards / where they got them.

Hey, I'd say it depends on how big your new car is. But 2 water magnets and an air compressor should dry your car quickly and safetly. If you don't have an air compressor I used a ss drying cloth for the larger amounts of remaining water on the panels and follow up with a water magnet to get the rest. But now I just use the ss drying cloth for plastic trim in which it does a great job.

You can always post to see if someone will do you a favor and buy it themselves then ship it out to you. You got paypal? Or use ebay?

Water Magnet all the way for me! Have 6 or so and use them all the time.

If you already have Deep Crystal Cleaner use it when you are not trying to remove swirls, works very well to prep the paing for a fresh coat of wax.... but like Murr1525 said there are a couple better options for removing swirls by hand. Good Luck!
