  • what is your detailing Procedure?

i was just wondering what you do in steps when you do a full detail? (as in the whole car and the motor)

here is my procedure in order.

    -do the motor (apc)

-start on the wheels/tires (wash mit JUST for rims and apc on tires) with a bucket/grit guard and car wash

    - empy and hose out the bucket and put in my body mit with soap and start with the driver side fender and work around the truck.

    - then dry with a WM or absorber

i'm just curious and know everyone has their own unique steps you take every detail.

    Okay I'll be specific:

layout: interior then exterior (I would do the engine in between but I haven't done that yet, or know how)

    1. Interior: throw away all trash and take out everything from compartments. use leather cleaner then conditioner on leather. vacuum. natural shine dash and (trim only interior). Clean glass. interior qd everything else. carpet clean. spray on scotch guard stain repellant carpet protector.
    2. I would do the engine now but I haven't learned nore bought the necessary products yet
    3. Look around my truck for tar, and anything else that should be removed later. Then set out all the things I may need; nozzel, measuring cup, nxt wash, nxt wax w/ g100 and 2 finishing pads and ultimate bonnets, qd and clay, paint cleaner, body solvent, hot rims, trim detailer, glass cleaner, final inspection, 2 buckets w/ grit guards, wash mop and wash mitt, ss drying sloth adn water magnet, and I hope I'm not missing anything else.
Then use all the products listed in an order you will already know (hint: 5 step process) yeah I use a lot of products, but we're all car crazy right?
    4. last but not least check my work, look for remaining residue, etc. then look at my truck from every angle and be amazed at how well Meguiar's products work.
Still have yet to eventually do wheel wells: use metal polysh, try #21 and detail engine compartment which I know you guys will help me with once I take the pics of my engine to see whato to cover and what you'd recommend. Oh yeah I start from the top and work down on the paint.

edit: forgot the air compressor, makes drying that much easier and gets the water out of the cracks and hard to reach areas.

tires=> megs NXT foaming tire cleaner ..rinse... extra on the wheel wells.. rinse... hot rims... rinse ... endurance x2

i might be the only person to do this but then i cover the wheels and tires w/ plastic then wash the car

        1. Wash w/Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner
        2. Clay w/Meguars Clay and Last Touch Spray Detailer
        3. Wash w/Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner
        4. #80 Speed Glaze
        5. M-81 Hand Polish
        6. NXT Generation Tech Wax Paste (2 Coats)

I apply all products with my PC then removed all by hand with Microfiber towels, except the NXT, it was removed with a Ultimate Bonnet.

        Detail Wheels:
        1. Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
        2. Polished with #81 Body Shop Professional Hand Polish
        3. NXT Generation Tech Wax (should stand up to the heat)

I also apply some Gold Class Endurance to the tires.

I move on to the trim using #38 Tire & Trim Dressing Gel on all the black plastic. The bed cover and interior got a shot of NXT Generation Tech Protectant or Quik Interior Detailer. Finish up by polishing my exhaust tips up with some NXT Generation All Metal Polysh .
