  • water tanks and pressure washer

just wandering if i need a pump of some sort to get the water to flow from my tank to my pressure washer or if there is something else i need to do.
    i have a 65 gallon tank and a 7.5hp pressure washer
    thank you

What type of pump is on your pressure washer?

Some units are not designed for suction. Consumer pressure washer pumps and a majority of industrial units are designed for water to be forced in. The force required is minimal: we're talking about the force coming out of your tap on the home garden hose.

i have a honda 2600 psi pressure washer and i just let the hose that comes from the tank to the pw run down so its like a gravity feed and it ***** the water out of the tank rather well.So the answer is yes it will **** it out , as long as your pw has a strong pump on it.

You're talking about 2 different forces here. Since you say the hose coming out of the tank runs downward, this forces the water out of the hose, into the pump. Gravity is doing the work.

How well does your pump do when the water tank is nearly empty? Have you ever run it down to only a gallon or two?

I have a 110 gallon tank and i never had to run it that far down before. My only advice is to try it out and let us know if it works for you. Thats what i did and it worked for me.I put my whole trailer together for alittle over a thousand and thats with a new generator and pw.

try puttin it on a table first and make sure you have air flow from the top of the tank.

i guess if i have to i can retrofit some sort of fitting on top of the tank to where i can add some air pressure to it to help it flow gonna try that tomorrow

Should you need a pump, 12V "on-demand" pumps can be found for under a $100, just depends how many gallons per min you want, I would think something like this would work.

Here is an example (From Northern Tool):
                        SHURflo On-Demand Diaphragm Pump
                        12 Volt
                        2.8 GPM
                        Model# 1202.1000
                        $76.99

                          yes you need a pump

I have tried mine with or without a pump, it will reduce your pressure coming out of your pressure washer if you don't have one. Go to Home depot and get a internal sump pump, the one I have goes inside the watertank and has a waterhose the connects to the top of it and comes out of the top of the water tank and straight to the inlet of the pressure washer,it also has a electrical cord that comes out the top along with the waterhose.so the cheapest thing to do for power is a 500w power inverter, its cost is and 50.00 and the internal pump is around 70.00.The reason I like the internal pump is you don't have the problem of the pump over heating because its under water.I've had mine going on my 4th year and it still works just fine. good luck,Barry
