  • Rocker panels on truck

I have 2005 Chevy Z71 onyx black in color with 35" BFG mud terrain tires on it and the rock chips in the lower panels are killing me. Im looking to get the spray on bed liner from the rockers to about 6" up, right before the crease. I have seen a few trucks done like that, but Im worried about how it will look. How much texture, how difficult to keep new looking? I think some NXT Tech Protectant should do the trick to it.

Any other suggestions to do besides the spray on bed liner?

    Thanks,

Two suggestions: As unattractive as they may seem, mud guards help this problem quite a bit, especially with the oversize tires.

I have a lifted Silverado on 33s and I have the same problem. I do not, however, have mud guards since I just don't like the look. On the inner edges of my fenders, I have some 3M Scotchguard Paint Protection Film.

If you want to maintain the shine of your paint finish, but have it protected from the chipping, use this film instead of the bedliner material. I've seen the Scotchguard run along the entire rockers and lower portions of GM trucks and it looks surprisingly good.

I'm not a fan of how dull the spray on bedliner material looks. This is just my opinion, but when I see it, it reminds me of the old used car dealer trick of putting rust inhibitor under the rockers and bottoms of doors to hide rotten metal. It also looks out of place with the dull color against the paint finish.
See the big picture, enjoy the details
