  • Meguiar's product non-metalid bumpers and rear spoiler

I got a new Acura RSX Type S black/black and the exterior has a lot of non-metalic parts such as the bumpers and rear spoiler. What is the best Meguiars product for these parts. I considered using NXT Gen Tech wax, since it produced such great results on the painted metalic parts on my car.

Also the interior dash is sort of like textured vinyl or plastic. Would it be okay to use NXT Gen Tech Protect, to clean and protect it. And does this product contain silicon? I was told not to use product containing silicone on the dash board.

Thanks for your response but are you sure it's okay to use NXT Gen Tech wax on painted plastic bumpers?

Yes. It's perfectly fine to apply any Meguiar's wax to any component of your car painted with an automotive paint.

Using wax on paint is the whole idea. Remember, you are using the wax on the paint, not the plastic underneath.

Incidently, I also gently apply wax to plastic headlight covers, and fake chrome bits to keep them protected.

Thanks for your response. My other question is: The interior dash is sort of like textured vinyl or plastic. Would it be okay to use NXT Gen Tech Protect, to clean and protect it. And does this product contain silicon? I was told not to use products containing silicone on the dash board.

I love the Tech Protectant. It looks perfect on my dash, and other interior trim. I like to apply it around the car, let it sit a minute, then buff off. Leaves a perfect look on my dark gray plastic/vinyl, as I dont like it real shiny.

Different companies plastics can look different with the same dressing, so you'll have to try it and see if you like the look. Meguiars makes 5 or so different dresings partialy for this sort of reason.

As far as the question about silicone goes as it relates to our products, our chemists only include ingredients into a formula that either benefit the surface the product is being applied to or benefit the user as a part of the process of application and removal and usually both.

Another way of saying the above is sooner or later you need to make a decision to trust the name on the label of the bottle or can and have confidence that the product is a quality product that is going to do what the manufacture claims it's gong to do for the surface it's intended to treat.

In all the years I've been detailing and since these new-fangled thing-a-ma-jiggies called discussion forums come along, I've never seen so much bad and downright wrong information get posted, shared and spread only to the disservice of all those that read it and believe it must be true because they read it on a forum somewhere.

Just like the link Murr1525 included above, the guy that posted that information is known for copying and pasting information from one place to another place without every backing up what he posts. He has set himself up as a self-proclaimed guru and he's been banned on more than one forum for posts like the one the link goes to...

We never banned him here, but after our chemists took his little scientific mumbo jumbo post and dissected it for the world to see... he never came back to defend what he posted.

I have more stuff he's posted that our chemists have dissected but have never had the time to post in the forum created specifically for this type of misinformation here...
