Wow, good trick! I just bought it from Coastal for $95. I still feel like I stole it, though. Incredible price, though 10% off an incredible price is even more incredible!

I didn't think Amazon did price matches. Maybe its different if you call them.

I just ordered one as a backup to my Dewalt 849, It will arrive tuesday.

was $103.50 including shipping, Amazon has too much fine print for their price match, all they have to say is its a closeout and they wouldnt need to beat the price.

It will give me a perfect chance to write a review for you guys.

I just checked Amazon's site on price matching and here is what it said:

            Price Matching

Amazon.com does not have a price-matching policy at this time. We do, however, consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry, and you can help.

If you think our price for a particular item isn't competitive with that of other online retailers, you can notify us by clicking the "Let us know" link on the relevant item's product detail page. Sign in, enter the price and URL for the better online offer you've seen, and click the Submit button.

The information you provide will be used to keep our prices as competitive as possible at all times. Please be aware that we will not be able to provide individual responses. After you submit your lower price, check back in a few days to see if our price has changed as a result.

Amazon will not always lower the price of an item in such cases; here are some reasons why our price may not change:

            * The competitor's product is not an exact match (identical make and model) with ours
            * The competitor's total price (including shipping, handling, rebates, membership fees, taxes, etc.) is higher
            * The competitor with the lower price is out of stock
            * The competitor's product is refurbished, reconditioned, or a floor model
            * The product is a closeout or clearance item (at our store or our competitor's store)
            * The competitor is not manufacturer authorized
            * The product on our site is offered by a partner (our partners set their own prices)

EDIT: Then I checked the actual tool and it says:
Lowest Prices Guaranteed: If you find a better price elsewhere on any Tools & Hardware product offered by Amazon.com, we will match that price and beat it by 10% of the difference.

My two cents on Coastal Tools and Hitachi

Well I succombed to the desires for a rotary last weekend and could not pass up Coastals price on it.

If you want a great tool from a first rate vendor...GO COASTAL!!!!

I don't do the credit card thing so I called the company on the phone and asked if I could still get the Net price even if I mailed in a check. The answer was a resounding "Of Course!!!"

So, off went the check for $103 bucks after s/h. Then the wait began....well okay...it only took 4 days but it felt like forever!!!

Got the Hitachi and I realize I don't have much to compare it against, ie Makita/Dewalt, but let me say this thing rocks!!! Totally belittles my original Harbor Freight polisher ( not that it stunk...paid a few bills for me!!) and is about 1/3 of the noise of the HF.

Weight is perfect and controllability is first rate with the bucket handle. Add to all of this a 5 year Hitachi warranty!

If you miss out on this deal...shame on you.

                  I received two today.

Really quite nice. The handle takes a little getting used to, but, gosh, it is so quiet!

Comes with a valid 7" backing plate. I just wish it had a 12-20 foot power cord.

I'm comparing it to the Chicago Electric, and the Fein.

So far, very nice. It seems to get very warm, almost hot, about 75% of the way around an Escalade...
Running at about 1000 RPM (between 1 and 2 on the dial).

                  Jim
If it was easy, everybody'd be doing it!

Mike Phillips has me hooked on 6" pads.

Until I put the 'proper' backing plate and pad on the Hitachi, I'm afraid my evaluation is somewhat subjective...

But, today I buffed a Jeep Liberty, a Cadillac Escalade, and most of a BLACK Range Rover HSE Sport. All with the Hitachi

My Shoulders hurt. I just wonder... Trust me, it is not the first day we worked hard.

The Hitachi is heavier than the Fein, and the 'curious' handle may contribute to my fatique.

Just some additional thoughts on a $95 tool.
