  • New '06 Odyssey Touring detailing questions

First, thanks to everyone for their help!

I went to my Super WalMart tonight and loaded up on various Mequiar's products. I'm a Newbie, so please be patient.

    1. I purchased a P/C d/a polisher today, but was wondering where to get all the pads. They show up on this website's store, but Mequiar's will not let you purchase online. Why?

    2. The finish on my new vehicle is beautiful, but can I start polishing now? In what order? I have the NXT car wash, NXT spray speed wax, NXT speed detailer, NXT tech wax liquid. Do I need all this now, or do I just wash now, and detail the exterior in 6 months?
(I know, wash, clay, speed wax?, then regular liquid wax?) What am I missing?

    3. Are there any advantages of the Gold vs NXT, in relation to the speed waxes, detailers, and liquid wax?

    4. I know I need clay, and am purchasing that online tomorrow.

    5. Can I use my new D/A with the NXT liquid wax?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sorry I can't answer all your questions.

What I can tell you is that the "speed wax"/NXT Spray Wax, is a booster wax which is to be used as maintenance on a clean waxed surface.

    For instance:
    1. You detail/wax your vehicle.
    2. It gets dirty and you wash it.
    3. Then you apply the NXT Spray Wax, to maintain the previously waxed surface.

I can also let you know that it should be perfectly fine to detail (wash, clay, polish and wax) your vehicle.

As far as advantages go NXT v. Gold Class. I believe it is more of a preferance. I do believe that Gold Class is a carnuba based wax and NXT is an engineered wax.

    Hope this helps.

      1. Give customer service a call.. might be a back order or something on the backing plate and pads.

      2. I think you may need to read and study carefully these two links. They should give a pretty solid start.

      3. Exactly as 79T/A said, Gold Class is a carnuba blend ,and Nxt is synthetic. Gold Class may look a little deeper on dark colors, Nxt should last longer.

      4. Yup. You might switch over to #21 Synthetic Sealant once your bottle of Nxt runs out.
