Is there any differance between megs cleaner/wax in the red bottle and colour x. Would it make any sense after I used either product to then use nxt.

I think color-x may be a little more aggresive than #A12 Cleaner Wax
but they both do contain wax.
I probably would let it cure for a day before applying NXT as you could still disturb the polymers in the cleaners.
This is just basic guess work, as I dont use the consumer brand

Yes, as the others have already said, there is a difference between ColorX and A12 Cleaner Wax. The ColorX is indeed more aggressive, contains a polish as well as a polymer for protection. I happen to like ColorX a lot. It is one product that I have found all kinds of uses for it!
Yes, you can top with NXT Tech Wax if you want a little richer and deep look with more protection. The ColorX/NXT combo is quite well liked. But again, topping the ColorX or the A12 is not necessary.
