  • substitute colorx for dc paint cleaner??

Ive been reading around on the forum and ive come across several ppl who substitute colorx for dc paint cleaner. So is this possible to do during the 5step detail...also doesnt claying remove most of the old wax. So then applying colorx is like applying a temporary wax kinda until you put nxt on the final step. So is this a good idea to substitute or do i just go with the dc paint cleaner?

Has anyone used #39 vinyl and rubber cleaner. Would this be a good product to clean my dads vinyl top on his 70 monte carlo?? if not could you tell me what product would be good for cleaning? and then leaving either a shiny or natural look upon completion.

If it aint BLING! it aint CLEAN!

I don't know why you would want to substitute ColorX for DC1. I'm sure it has less solvent content, and perhaps more abrasive. If you are going to follow with NXT, I would want to get the maximum cleaning out of my cleaner product, rather than performing a redundant step. If you want to do less steps, then a cleaner wax like ColorX is a fine choice, but in that case, you don't need to follow it with NXT (of course you can, if you want).

The #39 will be great for that vinyl top, you'll just want to follow it with some kind of protectant, whether that be #38, GC Trim Dressing, #40, or the NXT protectant (although I think that is being targeted now for interior use only).

As Setec mentioned, I am not sure that 'replace' is quite the right word. But it is certainly a good product to have in the aresenal.

If you want to remove swirls, and think ScratchX is too agressive, this is a medium strength cleaner, with milder abrasives than ScratchX.

If you want a one step detail, then this is certainly a great choice.

Or, my favorite, on a daily driver and short on time, it makes for a quicker detail:

      1. Wash
      2. Clay if needed
      3. ColorX
      4. Nxt wax - 1 coat

But it all depends on what you are looking for. DC#1 has its good points too, being a mild cleaner. And since it is only a cleaner, you are going to get a better chemical cleaner. It just wont remove swirls.
