  • Need some help !!

I have a 05 Mercedes i bought with 3000 miles on it , well when the car was traded in the dealer buffed the car, leaving swirls all over the car real bad. So i definatly didnt want the dealer to touch the car anymore. So i took it to a local detail shop, the place buffed the car took out all the swirls no problem at all. Then after about 3 carwashes seem like the swirls came back , so i used scratch x, nxt. That seemed to work real well for a while , but in direct sunlight the car is loaded with swirls.....indirect sunlight car looks like a mirror. I was thinking of getting a orbital polisher and fix this myself , i been using meguires products forever , These swirls turn my stomach ..help please!

Welcome to the wonderful world of "black" cars. Black cars develop swirls by just looking at them wrong.

I'd re-evaluate my washing and drying technique. If the swirls were buffed out and they are returning that would be my first thought.

Use the two bucket washing method and use a new or very clean sheepskin mitt. Buy and use grit guards. Use a good wash like Gold Class or NXT and use at the proper dilution. Dry with a clean waffle-weave drying towel like the Water Magnet. You didn't say but if you have to use a automatic car wash use one that is touchless.

In my experience, most swirls come from washing and drying

When polishing and waxing be sure to use new or spotlessly clean applicators. Also use clean, premium microfiber towels for removing product.

It is also possible that the detail shop used a product with fillers and didn't totally remove the swirls. Check with them on the products they use.

      Hi Rynz,

Looks like it's time for you to invest in a dual action polisher and take ownership of the paint polishing department. The money you spent at the detail shop would have covered most if not all of your investment.

Get a dual action polisher and read this,

Note that while the part numbers and names are correct in the products that are listed, the links don't all work and the pictures are whacked out because the folks at meguiars.com keep changing things on that website and I quite frankly don't have the time to go through the entire forum and edit all the changes to counter their changes.
