  • A Silly Question

    Hello everyone!

I'm new here, so forgive me for asking a silly question. I am a bit confused after reading many of the posts in the Detailing 101 section. What exactly do the numbers #80, #83, etc. mean? What products are they referring to?

    Regards,
    Jon

not a silly question, hope this answers it

Thanks very much Five Star! I should probably refrain from using the pro-grade products until I have a good handle on detailing my '05 Mustang GT.

      Cheers,
      Jon

Not nessicerily. Just being a Pro/Detailer Product doesnt mean it is something that a beginer can not use.

What sort of results are you looking for, what sort of process are you using now?

I've been doing it all by hand. It's been a bit frustrating as I have very little time these days to spend doing it all by hand. The paint is still in very good condition, just a few mild swirl marks here and there. I plan on getting a G100 soon. The products I use at the moment are the DC system (1, 2, and 3), Scratch X (where necessary), and Quik Detailer.

Have you tried the Quick CLay or Smooth Surface clay at all?

I have a daily driver, and short on time. Here is what I try to do.

            1. Wash
            2. Clay if needed
            3. ColorX
            4. Nxt wax.. soon to be #21 hoepfully.

You can tell that cuts down on the number of steps some if you are in a hurry, instead of:

            1. Wash
            2. Clay if needed
            3. Clean
            4. Polish
            5. Wax
            6. Wax - 2nd coat
