By the word, burnin, do you mean it's lifting off or turning white and flaking off?

Here are some pictures of a clear coat finish that is failing, that is it's deteriorating to the point that it's flaking off.

will meguiars color-x fix this problem?
If the clear coat is failing, i.e. it is lifting off or flaking off, no product you pour out of a bottle or scoop out of a can will fixt it

or i'll have to get the trunk repainted?
If the clear coat is flaking off, the only honest reply to this question on any forum is "yes".

    will clay bar work?
Clay bars while miracle tools, are for removing above surface bonded contaminants, like tree sap mist or overspray. They will not replace missing paint or make paint that is deteriorating to the point of flaking off magically repair itself and re-bond to the color coat.

Your story is a common story told everyday but thousands of people working in the detailing industry who's heart is in the right place, but the tools they are give to work with are not up to the challenge.

When I met the young gentleman in this thread,

Each one, teach one... Ferrari Fiorano 355 F1 Spider

I asked him to bring me the detailing products his boss was supplying him with to use on customer's cars. It was a hodge-podge collection of some of the most archaic products I have ever seen and one of the primary reasons the finish on the Ferrari didn't look good nor was he able to improve the finish with the use of these products.

I taught him how to use clay, Quick Detailer, M80 Speed Glaze, NXT Tech Wax and the dual action polisher with a few different foam pads and a microfiber bonnet and his work went from this,

    to this...

And the young man who did it all,

    1) Apply a cleaner/polish, (Speed Glaze)
    2) Apply a wax, (Tech Wax)
    3) Remove the dried wax, (Ultimate Bonnet)

    Speed Glaze

    Tech Wax

I agree they kind of look what paint would look like had a big chip been taken out of it, but I don't think rocks would impact a car in a way to cause these types of chips. Knowing the car has been repainted, it is more than likely a surface prep problem and the color coat is separating and chipping off.

I also have outlined in a large rectangular area in the photo above what looks like some kind of staining taking place?

Regardless, the only honest fix for these paint chips is new paint job. Until then, wash the car and use a cleaner/wax like ColorX on the car and what's left of the paint will at least look better.

Also just to note, we don't allow people to attach photos on this forum, the link below explains why and also includes links to tutorials that will teach you how to work with photos inside discussion forums like this one. A skill you can use on any forum you post to.

My mistake, for some reason if it were me, I would not have included the ashes in order to help the people I was asking help from.

Cleaner/waxes need to be worked into the paint, allowed to dry and then removed.
