  • Which one: #80, #82, #83, HandPolish

    Hi

I'm looking for an abbrasive polish and don't know what to choose: SpeedGlaze, HandPolish, DACP, SwirlFreePolish.
My car has a good amount of swirls, not really taken care of from a detailer's point of view. I will be using it by hand.

    What do you recomend?

If you looking to remove swirls, Try Scratch-X, while its not a polish, but a Paint cleaner, it will removed swirls more efficently that the other products. #80,82, and 83 are eaiser to use with a DA.

I'd they try some Deep Crystal Polish, or even some Hand Polish after Scratch-X.

ScratchX will be the way to go by hand, followed up by a pure polish like DC#2. Then a coat of your favorite wax.

Be sure to read the How-To Remove Swirls with ScratchX article in the How-To Section.

Thanks guys, but those are the only products I can find here, so have to work with what I cand get (that means no ScratchX).

Read a little more and found out that #81 HandPolish is a pure polish without abbrasives so that rules it out.
#82 Swirl Free Polish seems to be less aggressive that #80 and not sure if it has the polishing oils that Speed Glaze #80 has.
#83 DACP seems a bit too aggressive, not sure how that would work by hand and again don't know anything about polishing oils.

At the moment my best bet would be #80 Speed Glaze. If anyone has anything to add please do, I really can't make up my mind, I want a mild abbrasive (somehow afraid of going for something aggresive for the first go) and with polishing to add more life.

Well, I think yo uare going to want to use either #80 or #83. However, I am not sure which will break down easier by hand to remove swirls.

Hopefuly Mike or someone willl chime in.

            Hey ToniPieleanu

Since you are detailing by hand and can not obtain ScratchX, then I would suggest using Meguiar's #80 Speed Glaze. It would be, IMO, a little easier to use by hand compared to #83 which would require a lot more arm work. You may need to apply and remove the products a few times. Remember, you need to work the #80 until it is only a light residue. This may take a few minutes over a 2'x2' area.

If after a few attempts the swirls are not being removed, you may need to apply the products by machine. Or you could try #83 by hand.

            Please keep us posted!
