  • Detailing Help

    Hello All,

Need some help with wax haze (?) on my Infiniti G35. I noticed a couple of blemishes on my car and used ScratchX or Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner to get them out. Meguiars worked like a charm.....then I followed up with some GC wax b/c I know that the above products will remove wax coat. Now I am noticing a light film / haze in the affected areas only when I look at the car in direct sunlight. I do not think the paint was affected by the ScratchX or Paint Cleaner (no obvious swirl marks and I remember checking paint in sunlight to make sure it cleaned up affected area)...it just looks like a bad wax job (almost like I didn’t get all of the wax off the car although I clearly wiped the area down many times).

Did I do something wrong? Should I not wax after using cleaning products? Am I not waiting long enough for wax to dry (I usually only wait 5 or so minutes for the wax to dry when doing specific small areas)? Will film wear off or should I use cleaning products again to remove film / haze?

    Please advise.

    Hi NTAC,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

After applying the paint cleaner and the polish, next apply a thin coat of wax and allow it to dry until it swipes clear.

It's important to apply a thin coat of any wax, allow it to fully dry before removing and the remove it using your softest, clean microfiber polishing cloth.

Generally speaking, two thin coats will aways insure uniform appearance and uniform protection.

You might try wiping the area down with a quick detailer to insure it is clean and free of any dust and then re-applying a thin coating of the Gold Class wax to the entire area and after it dries, remove the wax and then inspect again.
