  • How low can the temp go.

Most of the winter here in Canada it is too cold to detail the exterior of my vehicles. However this week coming the forecast is unseasnably warm . Around 38 - 45 deg F. Is this too cold to use a clay bar then cleaner then "nxt".? Thanks in advance. p.s. how bout the tires.

I've worked in that temp range. Use very thin coats of your products & wipe off ASAP. I've also prewarmed the vehicle in the sun then went to work on those panels turning the vehicle to prewarm the others. Good luck & enjoy the results.

      Hey,

You should not have too many problems at that temperature. I have detailed at much, much colder temperatures but would not recommend it.

Here are a couple of links....

I have never tried to wax in winter. I am without a garage and have been putting some thought into car care for the winter months. I think I have the washing part down and have a plan of attack on that. I am considering the waxing part now and was wondering if there might be any tips or lessons learned from some others

      I hope this helps!

As far as claying, as long as the QD isnt freezing on the surface, you should be ok.

I have had good success with both the A-12 Cleaner/wax (red bottle), and ColorX in the cold, around 40F. I espeacialy like that with only one step, I can get back indoors fast.

Thanks for the advice "Cert Car Crazy". I went out and got some a-12 cleaner/wax and it worked well.My truck hasnt looked this good since the middle of November. I did it to-day , the temp was around 38 f. Not too cold but after a couple of hours I was ready to come in. I will wait till spring to do a major exterior detail.
