  • #4 and PC?

The instructions on #4 Heavy-Cut Cleaner indicate it is for use with a rotary buffer "only".

Anyone try this with a PC and cutting pad?

I've got what looks like water spots covering the hood of one of my cars. ScratchX seems to work, but it would take forever by hand.

If ScratchX worked by hand #80, #83 or new #2 should work by PC with a W-8006 polishing pad.

If you take a PC with #4 and a W-7006 to the finish you’ll probably need to follow up with one or more of the above.

    PC.

        Hey,

Meguiar's #4 Heavy Cut Cleaner is a very aggressive product that is for rotary application only.

The PC is not aggressive enough to break down the product properly. As a result, your finish may be swirled or marred to the point that only a rotary buffer will remove the marring and restore the gloss.

The most aggressive product and pad combination that Meguiar's recommends is #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish with the W-8006 Polishing Pad. If you had some success with the ScratchX, using the #83 and the W-8006, with the PC set to speed 5, you should be able to remove most if not all of the water spots, unless they are just etched in too deep.

Here is a link to a related thread:

        I hope this helps!

          Hey Sneek,

ScratchX is for hand application only. When used with the PC, it can become quite gummy. Further #7 Show Car Glaze is a pure polish that does not contain any ingredients with the intended purpose of cleaning the paint. A great follow-up to ScratchX would be ColorX when used by hand.
