  • BMW 740i this weekend !

I'm scheduled to detail my first BMW this weekend...it's a 95 740i that is in excellent condition but no where near where it could be once I get a hold of it...a friend of mine just picked it up yesterday and we're scheduled to do the "Mequiars process" this saturday...is there anything I need to be aware of when dealing with this car that someone else may have already experienced ?....my plan:

Wash completely with NXT wash - rinse and then wash again.....

    Clay

Hot wheels for the alloy rims

    #80 with DA and 8006

    Scratch X where/if needed

    DC # 2

Top off with either NXT or #16, not sure which it's going to be....

The car is a dark, dark green and almost looks black in certain lighting conditions....it's a sweet ride and I"ll post befores and afters when completed....

Any suggestions or tips or "warnings' would be great !!....

do you really need #80 if your going to use scratchX and DC#2 after??? seems a little excesssive

also you can wash after claying to ensure that the car is clean!

I was only going to use ScratchX when necessary...and DC2 is a polish....I think this is the right process ???

Well, I think he means that #80 is a cleaner polish, so it would cover both steps. If you used ScratchX first, then went over the whole car with #80, DC#2 would just be optional.

But if you use #80 first, then go to scratchX, you certainly would want to polish everything again to make it even, and put the polishing oils back in.

Got it....but would using DC2 make the dark finish "pop" even more ???

ya but #7 would do even more and also you can do it on top of the NXT theres no extra protection but there is added gloss

like if you did scratchX first then did #80 you dont need dc2 because the deminishing abrasives turn into a pure polish but you can really give it that pop with a pure polish like DC2 or #7

Most dark colors to get added depth/gloss with a pure polish. You can certainly just do a test panel, and see if you can tell the difference.
