  • Quick Detailer...

    Happy New Year Everybody!

I had a quick question regarding claying. I purchased the mild clay last week and I used the Quick Detailer to lubricate the surface. I use the NXT Wash as my soap when I wash, and I was wondering if I can spray the soap onto the surface when claying instead of the quick detailer?

    Thanks.

Some do use a water/car wash soap (NXT in your case) as a lubricant. I did try the mix using Gold Class Shampoo but I didn't care for it, IMO a quick detailer provided a better lubricant. Just my .02!

I came to the conlusion that I should play it safe and use only the Quick Detailer as a lubricant when claying.

      Thanks.

Just a quick tip, if you plan to wash your car first, then instead of washing it, then drying it, then claying, and wiping off QD, which you certainly can, sometimes, you might just want to clay after you wash the car, but don't dry it.

That is on the final rinse stage, just start claying the car. You can pick up additional water from the windows to lubricate the clay. This assumes you are working in cool conditions where the water isn't drying on the car.

If you clay this way, you can dry the car as you clay, although for me in most cases, the car dries before I'm done claying and I need to rinse it down anyways.

It all comes down to which is more expensive--QD or water and do weather conditions permit you to save some $$?
